October 9

Jaela's rodding surgery was today and everything went well. We had to be to the hospital bright and early, 5:30 am to be exact (which is 4:30 Utah time......). I don't think any of us slept the night before but we managed to all get here and stand upright. It took about 1 1/2 hours to get her ready to go back to surgery and the surgery took about six hours. They were really great about telling us what was going on during the surgery. An aid came out every half hour to update us and the surgeon came out once her left leg was completely done and to tell us he was moving on to the right. He was able to rod her left leg completely and the femur in her left leg.

Whoever thought of this was a genius, but Jaela will have an epidural for two to three days to control pain. So hopefully she'll be really comfortable and able to rest instead of hurting.

That's all for now. Maybe once I get another hour of sleep my mind will turn back on :)  Thanks to everyone for all the thoughts, prayers, texts, and emails.
