Update

Dear family,

We thought for our second round of medical emergencies that we would try to keep everyone updated on Jaela's condition.

She's doing noticeably better. The intubator is slowly being turned down and her oxygen levels still stay where they need to be. She opened her eyes for a while and she wasn't crying. She was looking for us and responding to our voices. She didn't look as tired and in as much pain. She was still more tired and in more pain than usual but better than the past few days.

The doctors now think her respiratory issues are causing the heart issues. They have pretty much ruled out myocarditis (inflammation of the heart) and cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease) and are leaning toward pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs) which caused the heart inflammation. They are looking into everything we've suggested such as side effects of her pamidronate infusion or sleep apnea or low calcium. We've got support from the whole OI family across the nation and some doctors write us with different suggestions. They've got ivs in her head, hand, foot and thigh to give her all her meds and keep track of her blood pressure because a cuff could break bones.

She's stable for now and we'll keep everybody updated. Thank you everyone for the prayers and for staying with us on Sunday. She's alive today because heaven is hearing our pleas. Jaela still as a long way to go and her life still isn't guaranteed. She still needs a lot of prayers and miracles but we still have her with us!

Feel free to ask questions.
